Broom Lessons
“You’re gonna wanna hang on for this,” Ace warned. Before Sora could answer, Ace had kicked the broom of the ground. Sora whooped with glee as they soared up towards the clear blue sky, clinging to Ace’s waist.
Sora had flown Gummi ships and Baymaxes and Dream Eaters, but flying on a broom was a whole other thing, especially with Ace flying, nothing between them and the wind stinging their hands and cheeks, better than any rollercoaster.
“This is amazing!” Sora yelled over the wind as Ace skimmed low over the field to divebomb a cluster of other freshmen.
“You haven’t seen anything yet!” Ace hollered back. He yanked the broom handle up hard to send them through a series of barely-controlled loop-de-loops, Sora shrieking with laughter the whole time.
Sora’s stomach was rolling and his legs were wobbly when they finally touched back down to solid ground, but he was grinning so hard his cheeks hurt as they stumbled towards Riku and Deuce.
“Riku!” Sora shouted breathlessly, all but collapsing against Riku. “Did you see, did you see?”
“Got the whole thing,” Riku said, holding up Sora’s phone. “Wanna post it to Kingstagram and make everyone furiously jealous?”
“YES,” Sora exclaimed, delighted. “Kairi and Roxas are gonna be SO MAD they missed this! You’re the best.” Sora stretched up on his toes to kiss Riku’s cheek.
“Ok, ok,” Riku murmured, low tone reminding Sora that he was supposed to be careful about that when they were in new places. Sora snuck a look at Ace and Deuce to see whether they had noticed.
“You never get that excited about my flying,” Ace complained, shouldering into Deuce. “Where’s my kiss?”
“I’m not rewarding you for nearly killing the transfer student an hour after he popped out of the mirror,” Deuce scolded, although he was smoothing down Ace’s wrecked hair at the same time. “Sorry to cut this short, but if we don’t get back to the dorm we’ll be late for the croquet game, our house warden will yell at us, and I’ll end up with the yellow hedgehog again.”
“There’s nothing wrong with Lemon Drop!” Ace gasped.
“You guys have hedgehog croquet here too?” Sora perked up, elbowing Riku. “We’re both killer at that! Man, this place keeps getting better.”
